Freely Speaking Audio Devotion
Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.
Today’s devotion is written by Chelsea Durre.
“Those who go out weeping, carrying seeds to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them” (Psalm 126:6 NIV).
If you ask any successful person what they do to achieve success, they will tell you they never stop growing. As a nurse and entrepreneur, I must prioritize personal growth to build on and master specific skills in my line of work. I have found the same to be true in Christianity and our relationships with others. Personal growth is imperative in our faith walk with Jesus, and we won’t be able to bear good fruit without God’s help.
If you actively seek growth opportunities, you can probably attest that your most significant breakthroughs have come after moments when you find yourself weeping at the Lord’s feet. In those moments when we feel so out of control and overcome by our struggles, we come to the Lord in humility and ask Him to change us. I have read MANY personal development books in my career as an entrepreneur, but I haven’t ever experienced growth like I have from building on my relationship with the Lord.
I have recently been walking through some healing, and what I didn’t expect was a calling to focus on MY heart and the things I can control regardless of the situation. Sometimes, circumstances have felt so unjust that I caused myself to miss out on God’s blessings by being disobedient. I frequently say that I want to reflect Jesus’ character, yet I find myself in power struggles with the Lord when things don’t seem fair.
So, I want to ask, will you trust in what Psalms 126:1 tells you? The death of the old brings forth the birth of the new, and your tears are like seeds planted in fertile soil. When struggles come, don’t allow circumstances to steal your joy. God is getting ready to prune your branches. Be prepared for the harvest.
