Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today, Kristy Fitzgerald provides a beautiful picture of worship from God’s Word.

“Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!” 1 Chronicles 16:29 (NKJV).

What a beautiful sight! The Ark of the Covenant was finally coming to Jerusalem, where it belonged. King David had prepared a special place, a tabernacle, specifically built to house the Ark. The singers sang, the dancers danced, and all Jerusalem rejoiced in a spirit of worship. The Ark, the symbol of God’s presence, was finally home! For this occasion, David had written a beautiful Psalm that contains the above verse.

“Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!” What an inspiring, poetic statement. But sometimes my attempt to worship doesn’t seem beautiful, much less holy. I find myself so full of myself that I fail to fully give Him the worship He deserves.

Yet, looking closer at this verse, I see there are guidelines for coming into the presence of God to worship Him.

First, give God the respect, reverence and honor that His name deserves. How many times do we speak His name without realizing its impact? His name is power, His name is peace, His name is provision, His name is Love.

Second, bring an offering. There is only one offering God desires from you and that is You! When you come to worship God, bring your whole self in surrendered humility. There is strength in surrender.

Third, come before Him. The author of the Book of Hebrews said in Chapter 4:16 (NLT), “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Nothing is obstructing you from coming into His Presence. You can enter anytime.

Lastly, worship Him in the beauty of holiness. When we come into His presence and dwell there, when we worship Him and only Him, we start to 'wear’ His presence like a beautiful garment of praise. The world will see it and, believe me, they will notice.
