Freely Speaking Audio Devotion
Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.
Today’s devotion is written by Karen Wardle.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” John 16:33 (ESV).
As women of faith, we often find ourselves surrounded by chaos—whether in our families, friendships, or the world around us. Getting pulled into drama, uncertainty, and stress can be easy. But Jesus reminds us in John 16:33 that true peace is found in Him alone. The world is full of trouble, yet we don’t have to live in fear or anxiety because He has already overcome it all.
I have a friend whose life is filled with turmoil. She isn’t a believer, and her choices reflect a life lived apart from Christ. She longs for peace, yet she invites drama into her life, pulling others into the whirlwind with her. It’s heartbreaking to watch because I know the peace she’s searching for can only be found in Jesus. I see how the absence of His wisdom leads to poor decisions, unnecessary pain, and endless striving.
But I don’t want that for my own life. I want to live for Christ. I want to follow the things that make God’s heart glad. I want His wisdom guiding my steps. The world may offer temporary relief, but only Jesus gives lasting peace—the kind that steadies our hearts even amid trials.
Sisters, are you feeling weighed down by the chaos around you? Do you find yourself entangled in the world’s turmoil? Jesus invites you to rest in Him. He doesn’t promise a life free of troubles, but He does promise peace in the middle of them. When we surrender our hearts to Christ and fix our eyes on Him, the storms of life lose their power to shake us.
Take heart today. No matter what challenges you face, Jesus has already overcome the world. In Him, you will find the peace your soul longs for. Will you choose to walk in it?
