Freely Speaking Audio Devotion
September 10, 2025
Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.
Today’s devotion is written by Tara Thompson.
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry” (Habakkuk 2:3 KJV).
Have you ever felt like God hit pause on your life, right when you were ready to run?
We all have seasons where the momentum seems to stop, dreams are deferred, and answers feel delayed. But what if the wait isn’t a delay, but a preparation?
Seven years ago was my time of waiting. I knew what I wanted to do, maybe even needed to, but I felt this quiet whisper in my spirit: wait. I surrendered to the Lord and placed my plans in His hands, and waited. Within one week, I saw Him move in undeniable ways. It was worth the wait. God knew what was best for me, and His timing was perfect.
Waiting is one of the hardest things God asks us to do, especially when the promises feel delayed, the answers seem silent, and our faith is growing tired. Habakkuk 2:3 reminds us that God's vision is never late. It may tarry, but it will not fail. His timing is not our timing, and His ways are not our ways. Waiting is not wasted time. It’s refining time.
In the waiting, God is working on things we can’t see—both around us and within us. He’s preparing the blessing, yes—but He’s also preparing you to carry it well. Impatience rushes the process. Faith rests in the promise.
And here’s the beautiful truth: some of the richest blessings are found in the waiting—not just after it.
Reflect on what God is teaching you in this season of waiting that you could miss if everything happens on your own timing, and not His.
