Freely Speaking Audio Devotion

Aug 5, 2025    Liz'a Biswell

Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today’s devotion was written by Liz’a Bizwell.

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of

power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm,

well-balanced mind and self-control]” (2Timothy 1:7 AMP).

I have struggled with mental health throughout my life. For a long time, I searched for peace of

mind in all the wrong places. I turned to relationships, mind-altering substances, money, and material possessions. From my experience, I can tell you that true peace of mind isn’t found in

this world.

I once thought that submitting to God was only about obedience, but I’ve come to realize that it

serves my good. He guides me to the peace I’ve been seeking.

2 Timothy 1:7 is a powerful truth about who I am as a child of God. Through His Spirit, I do not

need to be fearful, timid, or cowardly when my emotions or thoughts try to distract me from my

mission. With His Spirit, I am filled with His power. Through His Spirit and patient love, I have

learned self-discipline. This is where I find my peace of mind.

God will transform your mind (the way you think), your heart (the way you love and receive

love), and your spirit (by giving you His Spirit) if you accept Him into your life and submit to His

ways. Will you surrender?

Take time to reflect on what guides your life. Is it fear, worry, or self-doubt? These feelings

come from an enemy seeking to destroy you. Don’t allow Satan or his tactics to control you any

longer! Take a stand and fight back. Let God and His Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline

take charge in your life today.

Father, I pray that every woman reading this today would receive Your Spirit of power, love, and

self-discipline into their life by submitting to Your ways. Help each one to defeat the enemy and

achieve victory so that they may give You glory. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen.
