Freely Speaking Audio Devotion
Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.
Today’s devotion is written by Angela Vandagriff.
“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalms 16:11 NKJV).
Feeling nostalgic, I drove by my childhood home. As I drove down that concrete road, recalling the majestic Victorian home in which I grew up, my excitement heightened. Comforting memories flooded my soul. I remember a house filled with life and joy, a wild, giggling little girl running through the halls, and love warmed my soul.
Years later, my heart sank as I paused in front of that house. It slumped in emptiness with great sadness from its decayed state of ruin. My heart felt abandoned by the joy the house once supplied. My mindset was focused on earthly treasures that had faded away, leaving me empty. My soul seemed to sink with despair. Seeking deceitful riches and things of this world leads to a broken path with which my heart could never be content.
I was searching in my past, hoping to heal the brokenness of my present. My soul found no joy searching in that emptiness. I was pushing God and His healing out of my heart. It was time for a change, a U-turn in my journey towards joy and healing.
In today's scripture, we are told God will show us the path of life, the way of living that will lead to eternal life with Him. Only in the presence of the Lord is the fullness of joy experienced. Joy and healing will elude you if you vainly seek them. However, when you choose to invite the Lord into your life, at His right hand, you will find all you desire.
What part of your life is in a decayed state of ruin? Where are you searching for joy? Let me encourage you today to delete any search engine that does not take you to the right hand of God. He desires to have you at His right hand where there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore.
