Freely Speaking Audio Devotion
Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.
Today, Sharee Gaiser encourages us to worship in the Spirit and in truth.
“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:24 NIV).
When I think of worship, three things come to mind: worship is a relationship, a posture, and a spiritual weapon.
We were created for a relationship with God, and worship is how we express that love. It’s not just singing on a Sunday morning in church—it's the way we live our lives in response to who God is. Prayer, obedience, service, and even stillness can all be worship when they’re directed toward Him. Worship says, “God, I know who You are, and I trust You.”
Several years ago, I was leading worship at a women’s retreat. The music was flowing, and everything looked just right. But something felt off. Afterwards, I asked God why I felt disconnected. Quietly, He whispered to my heart, “Would you worship Me differently if you could see Me?”
That question rocked me. I realized how easy it is to get caught up in performing—especially in ministry. But God isn’t looking for a show. He wants a heart fully surrendered. That moment challenged me to change my posture—not just physically, but spiritually. I started asking before every worship set, “God, how can I honor You today?”
Worship is also our greatest spiritual weapon. When we worship, we declare God’s truth over our circumstances. Like Paul and Silas singing in prison in Acts 16:25), our worship invites God’s power to move. Chains break. Hope rises. Darkness flees.
In difficult seasons, I’ve listened to worship music not because I felt like it, but because I needed to remind my soul who my God is. Every time, He met me in that space.
Friends, whether you're on a stage or alone in your kitchen, remember this: worship isn't about performance—it's about God’s presence. It's not about our ability, but our surrender. May our worship touch heaven and change earth.
How can you posture your heart today to worship God in spirit and truth? What “weapon” of worship can you wield in your current situation?
