Freely Speaking Audio Devotion

Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today, Susan Hales shares about learning to trust God’s plans.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take" (Proverbs 3:5–6 NLT).

My life was a mess. I discovered that the man I met on a Christian dating site was a scammer who only wanted my money.

I yearned to leave my pitiful life behind and start over somewhere, no matter where. I thought that changing my location would change my life, so I began an intensive job search.

I discovered my dream job in North Carolina, where most of my family lived. After many emails, phone interviews, and prayers, I knew God wanted me to move from Illinois to North Carolina for this job.

I waited for a job offer, or even an in-person interview, but neither happened. But God told me the job was mine, so our key verse became my anchor. I waited, prayed, and trusted God would work things out for my ultimate good, no matter what happened.

Waiting well requires trusting God. Trusting God completely means not relying on your own understanding because human understanding is never enough. God’s ways are incomprehensible, yet He is always trustworthy.

If you trust God's plan, He'll show you which path to take. He will remove obstacles, create an easier journey, and lead you to the intended destination.

After nine long months of waiting to hear about the job, a friend suggested I call the hiring manager one more time, and I did. A week later, I got the job offer. It’s amazing that I landed my dream job without an in-person interview. Of course, it was God’s plan all along.

God used my painful online dating experience to accomplish His plan for my move to North Carolina. I trusted His plan was better than mine by waiting patiently for my dream job.

Is there something you're waiting for in your life? Wait well by trusting God’s plan for your life instead of your own. He will lead you down the right path.
