Welcome to Freely Speaking, an OHSOFREE devotional ministry where we share our hearts and trust God for transformation.

Today, Sharee Gaiser shares about the art of waiting well.

"But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." —Romans 8:25 (ESV)

I recall the months, days, and weeks leading up to our first child's arrival. Filled with joyful anticipation, my husband and I could not wait to meet our daughter. Although those nine months filled me with awe at God's creation, nothing compared to the wonder and delight of finally holding our precious daughter in my arms.

Today, our family finds ourselves in a familiar place, waiting once again, this time for the arrival of our son and daughter-in-law's first child. The excitement is just as real, and so is the deep longing to hold a grandchild we already love so much.

Waiting well. It's not always easy. We spend our time thinking about what's next, missing the moments God has placed in front of us today. Yet, Scripture reminds us that waiting is not wasted when it is filled with trust and patience.

Patience is not a passive endurance of time, but a reflection of our deep trust in God's timing, wisdom, and faithfulness. It's a choice to remain hopeful, peaceful, and faithful even when things don't unfold as quickly or clearly as we'd like. Patience is not about sitting still, but about actively trusting that God is at work, even in the waiting.

Waiting well with patience involves:

- Trusting that God's timing is better than our own

- Resisting anxiety or frustration when answers or outcomes are delayed

- Staying grounded in faith, prayer, and gratitude during the in-between

In short, patience is faith in action—a calm, hopeful confidence that God is good, and He is at work, even when we can't yet see the outcome.

In this season of waiting, I'm once again learning to pause, to be present, and to trust in the One who holds all things—including new life—in His precious hands. It's in this unwavering trust that we find our peace and security, knowing that His timing is always perfect.

How might God be inviting you to wait well today, not with frustration or fear, but with peace, purpose and patience?
